Art Tigerina

Art Tigerina, a Bryan, Texas native, has thrilled audiences for over three decades with his powerful performances. Known for his versatility, Tigerina leads the Art Tigerina Band, a Tejano/Country fusion group that performs throughout Texas and the U.S. Tigerina also leads the Texas Country band, the Jukebox Preachers. Tigerina’s earliest musical influences stem from his father and brothers who were also musicians. Tigerina was impacted early on as a child where out of necessity, he’d accompany his mother to work during the graveyard shift at a truck stop. “I remember late at night hearing all the old country songs on the jukebox- I didn’t realize it then, but those songs shaped my taste in and longing
for playing music.”

In the early 90’s, Art made the decision to move to San Antonio, TX with the hopes of furthering his singing career. Art did not know a single person in San Antonio and lived by faith in his car. It was here that he began his Tejano career singing for a number of bands, including CityView Band. It was with CityView that he recorded his first CD entitled “Vueltas y Vueltas”. This title track was a hit for not only CityView, but later it was re-recorded with Grupo Vida where it found even greater success.

After one audition for vocalist, Art would find his band home with Grupo Vida for 17 years. Accomplishments with Grupo Vida include 2 Grammy nominations, 10 albums, and multiple awards, including Tejano Music Awards Showband of the Year. At the height of their time together, Art and Grupo Vida supported the (Dixie) Chicks on a year long tour playing Tejano music for sold-out crowds across the country.

In 2013, upon his exit from Grupo Vida, Tigerina explored retirement. He married and took a well-deserved year off from touring. But in 2015, Art began the solo project, the Art Tigerina Band (ATB). It has been a successful venture to include a hundred plus show tour a year, an album release, a 2018 Tejano Music Award Male Vocalist of the Year award, and Induction into the Tejano Roots Hall of Fame, Class of 2019.

In February 2021, after his experience during the pandemic and the release of ATB’s “An Empty Glass,” Art started the all country band, the Jukebox Preachers. Art feels he has come full circle from those nights as a kid sleeping in the truck stop booth. “I just knew someday, somehow, I’d be a singer. And I knew as I got older that I really wanted to sing country music. I’m just a good ol’ boy from Bryan, TX, and now I’m able to share the music I love. With my wife’s support, we expanded our business model (Tigerina Entertainment) and started the (Jukebox) Preachers. Now we offer my music to a wider audience. It’s like a dream come true…again.” Most recently, the Jukebox Preachers were named Texas Country Showdown 2024 Grand Champions at the Texas Country Music Awards. The Texas Country Music Association (TCMA) presented the Texas Country Music Showdown, a spirited competition featuring eight top Texas bands vying for cash prizes. The Jukebox Preachers ft. Art Tigerina took the stage and emerged victorious, crowned as the Texas Country Showdown Grand Champions during the awards ceremony. The Jukebox Preachers have released original songs, including ”Bourbon and Bad Decisions,” “Seat 25,” and “Dust Clouds and Smoke.” The first Jukebox Preachers album will be released mid-late 2025.
